Approved May 21, 2004 - Bagdad Architectural Advisory Board Minutes

Bagdad Architectural Advisory Committee
Minutes of the May 21, 2004 Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 8:35 a.m. with the following members and staff present: Mr. Charles Cook, Committee Chairman, Mrs. Jan Davis, Committee Member; Dr. Charles D’Asaro, Committee Member, Beckie Faulkenberry, Planning Director and Kacey Wagg, Transportation Planner and staff to the Committee. Ms. Debbie Nickles, applicant’s representative, was also in attendance. Mrs. Pat D’Asaro also attended as a visitor.

Ms. Wagg obtained copies of the April 16, 2004 meeting minutes for the committee member’s review. The Committee reviewed and approved the minutes of the April 16, 2004 meeting without objection.

The Committee took up case number 2004-BHAAB-002, a request for demolition and approval of architectural plans for a replacement structure. The committee had previously reviewed these plans and given approval for the demolition, but requested changes to the construction plans. Ms. Nickles represented the applicant under the County’s housing program. It was brought to the attention of the committee members that the applicant was in the County Jail for battery. Ms. Nickles requested that the committee members check on the house after the new home was constructed and Ms. Brundige moved in. Ms. Nickles then presented the new plans that showed an addition of a six foot deep porch and a change in the roof pitch to 7 on 12. Ms. Nickles then discussed the issue of hardiplank and the increased cost and maintenance of using this material on the entire house. Ms. Davis moved to approve the plans with
hardiplank only on the porch end of the structure. Dr. D’Asaro seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

The committee members then briefly reviewed approved plans for Case Number 2004-BHAAB-003, Ruth and Wayne Campbell. The plans were approved by staff after requested changes were made based on the direction of the committee at the April 16, 2004 meeting. Committee members agreed all requested changes had been made appropriately.

Ms. Wagg then informed committee members that a summer intern would be joining the Planning & Zoning staff. This intern will work on the Bagdad LDC revisions and other AAB related issues as part of her tasks.

The next regular Committee meeting was set for June 18, 2004 at 8:30 a.m.

The Committee adjourned at approximately 9:30 a.m.
