Minutes of the July 25, 2007 Meeting
The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. with the following members and staff present:
The minutes of the June 27, meeting were discussed and changes were asked to be made.
The first item on the agenda was Lisa Lyle, 2007-BHAAB-007, requesting the construction of an in-ground pool at 4556 Forsyth Street. Mike made the motion for approval as presented. David seconded the motion and it was passed as presented.
The second item on the agenda was the discussion concerning the rewriting of the historic district regulations. Mr. Phillip Walker and Mr. Michael Emerick with The Walker Collaborative discussed issues with the board. Each board member brought up several issues that they were concerned about. Among those issues were abandoned buildings and whether they could be demolished, tree removal and the mitigation requirements (storm resistant or native vegetation), minimum maintenance standards, demolition by neglect standards, infill using
historical aspects, safety, above ground pools ( allowed or not), precise definitions of styles, specific duties of the Bagdad Architectural Advisory Board, style specifics for windows, a list of things not allowed (i.e. vinyl), help finding grants to rehabilitate historic homes, and keeping homes affordable.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 10:00 a.m.
