Bagdad Architectural Advisory Board
Minutes of the July 22, 2009 Meeting
The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. with the following members and staff present:
Mr. D’Asaro asked if there was any discussion about the May 27, 2009 minutes. There was none; he called for approval and the minutes were approved with no objection.
The first and only item on the agenda is 2009-BHAAB-001 for Jennifer Castor. The property is located at 4554 Simpson Street, Bagdad in the conservation overlay district. Ms. Castor has constructed a green house and didn’t realize that she needed a building permit. Ms. Stanhope told the Board members that this was the result of a code enforcement complaint and that is why Ms. Castor has come before the Board. Ms. Stanhope said that the applicant would need to apply for a building permit; and that the structure would have to meet wind load requirements. Ms. Davis said that she has no objections and Mr. Johnson likes the way it is built. Mr. Johnson asked if it met setback requirements and Ms. Stanhope indicated that it did. Mr. Bailly made a motion to approve the project as presented; Ms. Davis seconded the motion and the Board voted unanimously in favor of the project.
The Board went on to discuss the Bagdad Village Preservation Association’s sign for the Bagdad Museum Complex. Mr. Bailly asked what the zoning was; Ms. Stanhope indicated
that it was zoned HR-1. If the old signs are taken down and replaced then the new signs would have to meet new criteria. She indicated any new sign would have to meet setbacks;
the existing signs are fine because they are grandfathered in.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 9:00 a.m.
