Public information course, MGT-318

This course examines the role of public information in managing a WMD/terrorism incident and provides practical training in crisis communication techniques. In such an incident, it is imperative that community leaders, incident managers, and public information officers are prepared to communicate with the public through the news media. The course focuses on the role of public information in incident management, the information needs of the public in a crisis, and the various means of effectively communicating through the news media. Upon completion of the course, participants will understand the role of public information in a WMD/terrorism incident, and be prepared to plan and execute public information actions in the event of such an incident. Council on Aging of West Florida to Open
New Congregate Meal Site in Allentown
PENSACOLA, Fla. (July 2, 2009) – Council on Aging of West Florida will register seniors for its new congregate meal program in Allentown at Pineview United Methodist Church, 1400 Pineview Church Road at Highway 89, on Monday, July 6 from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 a.m. Congregate meal programs are neighborhood-based programs that offer those 60 and older the opportunity to share a hot, nutritious, balanced noon meal and socialize with others their age. Meal service will begin at the church on Tuesday, July 7. Meals will be served Monday through Friday at 11:15 a.m. Though a $2 donation is suggested, there is no cost for the meals. However, reservations must be made in advance.

Council on Aging of West Florida will provide regularly scheduled recreation and activities at the church Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. There is no cost to participate.

The Allentown site will become the eighth congregate meal site operated by the Council on Aging of West Florida in Santa Rosa County. For a complete list of sites and hours of operation, visit www.coawfla.org. For more information, call 432-1475.
