Participate in Local “Youth
Conversation”
Milton, Florida – Congressman Jeff
Miller, newly elected Representative to the First Congressional District, is
planning to participate in the Santa Rosa County Youth Conversation and will be
presented with the Florida “Friend of 4-H” Award. The event will be held on Friday December 7th from
4:00 pm to 6:30 pm at the Pensacola Junior College Milton Campus.
The local conversation is the “grass
roots” level of the National Conversation on Youth Development in the 21st
Century. It is a part of the 4-H
Centennial Celebration, which is being conducted throughout the United
States. Santa Rosa County youth and
adults will have an opportunity to discuss and make recommendations about issues
that concern youth.
“We are very excited that
Representative Miller is planning to participate in our local conversation,”
says Vickie B. Mullins, Santa Rosa County 4-H Coordinator. “Representative Miller has been a long time
supporter of youth and the 4-H program.
His willingness to participate in our local conversation indicates his
concern for youth issues.”
“We will also be presenting the
“Florida - Friend of 4-H Award” to Representative Miller at our local
conversation,” says Mullins. “This is a
prestigious award that is presented annually to an outstanding supporter of the
Florida 4-H Program. The nomination and
selection process is very selective and it is an honor for us to present this
award to Representative Miller. The
award is usually presented at the State 4-H Congress, but Representative Miller
was unable to attend that event, so we are delighted that we will be able to
make the presentation at our local event.
Amy Bowman, the State 4-H Council Vice President, and a Santa Rosa
County 4-H member along with other local 4-H members will make the presentation
to Representative Miller.”
The Santa Rosa County Youth
Conversation is a 4-H sponsored event but it is not for 4-H members only. Registration for the Santa Rosa County Youth
Conversation was due on November 28.
However Mullins said “We would like to have as much input from the community
as possible, so if there is any youth or adult interested in participating they
can call Vickie B. Mullins at 623-3868 by Wednesday, December 5th,
to register for the event.”
