(Cooperative Extension, FSA, NRCS, and Rural Economic and Community Development).
* Wheat harvested for grain was double-cropped to either cotton or soybeans.
   ** Approximately 30 nurseries.
 *** Conservation Reserve Program
**** Amount paid by FSA for disaster payments, conservation programs and for participation in voluntary farm programs in cotton, corn, grain sorghum, oats, and wheat.
1) Growers increased adoption of conservation tillage to approx. 20,000 acres (16,000 ac. cotton and 4,000 ac. peanuts).
     2) Growing conditions were hot and dry throughout the season. Rainfall was extremely limited and scattered during April – June. As a result, many cotton fields were planted two or three times. This resulted in delayed crop emergence and skippy stands in many fields. Drought conditions persisted throughout the season.
