Most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) List

1.                   Does the county have a website where I can find up to date information?

Yes, the county’s website  http://www.santarosa.fl.gov provides services to citizens and businesses 24 hours – 7 days a week. The website is updated daily with the latest available information. Between 400,000 and 500,000 hits are made every month.  Some of the most popular services are viewing the weekly job opening postings, watching county meetings live or later as a re-play, viewing street and zoning maps and data, checking the status of building permits and inspections along with the status of contractor licenses, checking meeting dates and times for all meetings, reading the latest county news releases, viewing all open bids and bid results, completing customer service surveys, viewing pictures of animals available for adoption, looking up current phone numbers and email addresses for county offices, reading the massive amount of information provided by the county extension office, and emailing the commissioners with comments and suggestions.  The site also serves as a main portal to other county agencies websites and other websites of interest.  County departments continue to expand their individual pages in order to better serve their customers around the clock!

2.  Does the county have a Geographic Information System (GIS) and or Maps?

  • The Board of County Commissioners Geographic Information System (GIS) has been in place for almost 4 years, and is dy making a major impact on services because county departments are able to link their county data to maps.  These maps enable county staff to better serve their customers and citizens. Whether it is to provide zoning classifications, soil types, wetland information for an area or routing an emergency vehicle to a location, GIS is changing the way county services are delivered. For a complete listing of available GIS Maps, go to http://www.santarosa.fl.gov/gis

Citizens can also find zoning information on the county web site which can provide valuable information, especially for citizens and businesses doing research on a possible real estate purchase.  The zoning map also allows a link to the Property Appraiser’s data and maps in order to view detail property owner information.
