How Do I Request Titles Not Owned by Santa Rosa County Library?
Borrowing books from libraries outside Santa Rosa County (Interlibrary Loan) is a nationwide service with strict guidelines that every library must follow. The lending library sets the loan periods, renewing options, and any fees that may be charged.
FIRST STEP: Do not order items that are owned by the Santa Rosa County Library System. Check the Library Catalog at http://catalog.santarosa.fl.gov. You may request titles via the self service Request Materials feature on the library web page.
Policies are strict with no exceptions.
Only Santa Rosa County residents with valid Library Cards, without circulation blocks, may request Interlibrary Loan services.
-
College and University students should use their college/university libraries for Interlibrary Loans; requests from college/university students will not be processed.
-
Five (5) Interlibrary Loan requests allowed at one time, including items checked out
- Submit each request only once.
- Do not request the following:
Audio or Video formats (CDs, VHS, DVD, Music)
Microfilm or other Special Collection Items
Mass Market Paperback books
Books that have been published within the past 2 years
- No guarantee that all requests can be filled
- No timeframes for getting requested items can be promised
- While your request is being processed, status of your request will not be available by library employees.
- Your request will be sent to your home library for pickup and you will be notified by E-Mail. All communications will be E-Mail, not Phone.
If it is NOT PICKED up within 3 days after you are notified, it will be returned.
After two (2) requests are returned, additional requests will not be processed
- The due date is set by the lending library – up to 14 days – NO exceptions.
The loan period begins on the day the item is available for pick up at the Library.
- Borrowed items will NOT be renewed – NO exceptions.
At 7 days past due, the borrower's library privileges will be blocked from library use including checkout and computer use and library privileges for any person living at the same address will be blocked
- A $5.00 past due fee will be added, which will not removed if the item is returned
To AVOID all charges, make sure you return items on time.
At 10 days past due, an invoice for a $75.00 replacement fee will be issued
- If the item is returned within 10 days of the date of the invoice, the replacement fee will be removed
- If the item is NOT returned within 10 days of the date of the invoice, the replacement fee will NOT be removed and must be paid to reinstate library borrowing privileges.
At 30 days after date of invoice, if payment is not received, the borrower account will be charged an additional $10.00 fee and forwarded to a collection management agency with total charges per item of $90.00 ($75.00 replacement, $5.00 past due fee, and $10.00 collection fee), all of which must be paid to reinstate borrowing privileges, payable even if the item is returned.
All payments are non-refundable, even if the item is returned
