SANTA ROSA COUNTY MECHANICAL CODE
BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS
MEETING MINUTES
January 19, 2005

The regular meeting of the Santa Rosa County Mechanical Code Board of Adjustments and Appeals was held January 19, 2005, at 3:00 p.m. in the conference room of the Santa Rosa County Building Inspection Department located at 6051 Old Bagdad Highway, Milton, FL 32583. Board members present were Gary Mooneyham, George Jernigan, Bob Cooper and Richard Boggs.

Building Inspection Department staff in attendance was Tim Tolbert, Building Official; Rhonda Royals, Deputy Building Official; Skip Tompkins, Compliance Division Superintendent; Randy Jones, Compliance Investigator and Robyn Leverton, Administrative Assistant I.

Tom Dannheisser, County Attorney, was not present for the meeting.

A court reporter was not present for the meeting.

The meeting was called to order at 2:58 p.m.

Election of Officers
Rhonda explained that we currently have one vacant slot on the Board. She has requested a new appointee from Commissioner Broxson. She also explained that the Building BOAA rotates their Chair and Vice-Chair based on districts. If the Board decided to use the same method it would place Gary Mooneyham in the Chair position and George Jernigan as Vice Chairman.

The Board agreed to rotate their Chair and Vice-Chair based on districts making Gary Mooneyham, Chairman and George Jernigan, Vice Chairman.

Approval of Agenda:
1st meeting; no approval was required. Item #6 can be stricken from agenda as Mr. Karbine did not attend meeting to request reinstatement.

Approval of Minutes:
1st meeting; no previous meeting minutes.

Next Meeting:
George Jernigan made a motion to meet on the 3rd Wednesday of January and July. Mr. Cooper seconded the motion. The motion passed with a unanimous vote.
Based on this vote, the next regularly scheduled meeting will be Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at 3:00 p.m. in the Building Inspection Department Conference Room.

New Business-Miscellaneous Items

  • Rhonda explained the responsibility of the Board and why it has been established.
  • The Sunshine Law and ordinance copies were provided to each Board member.
  • Rhonda asked the Board if they would be in favor of granting the Building Department the authority to review contractors that have failed to renew their competency card therefore allowing the Building Department to reinstate their license without holding a meeting.

Mr. Jernigan made a motion to grant the authority. Mr. Boggs seconded the motion. The motion passed with a unanimous vote.

Open Forum
A discussion of code issues ensued, specifically concrete pads anchoring air conditioning units.

Mr. Jernigan made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mr Boggs seconded the motion. The motion carried with a unanimous vote.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:35 p.m.
