MAY 30, 2001
The special meeting of the Santa Rosa County Fire Code Board of Adjustments and Appeals was held May 30, 2001, at 3:00 p. m. in the Conference Room of the Santa Rosa County Building Inspection Department located at 6051 Old Bagdad Highway Room 202, Milton, FL 32583. Board members in attendance were Chairman John Reble and Vice Chairman Paul Hazucha.
Director of Public Services, Mr. Bill Gilbert was in the audience.
Building Inspection Department Staff in attendance were Martin Riley, Building Official; Rhonda Royals, Office Superintendent; Tim Tolbert, Fire Official/Chief Plans Examiner; Tambre Weiland, Fire Safety Inspector; and Esna Cluck, Permit Analyst. Charles Hoodless and Bill Tucker, future Fire Safety Inspectors, were in the audience.
The purpose of this meeting was to establish and discuss additions and revisions to the Fire Prevention Ordinance. With only two board members present, we did not have a quorum. Therefore the agenda was not approved, nor the minutes from the previous meeting. The Board decided to proceed with the meeting as scheduled to have open discussion with those people in the audience.
Mr. John Reble, Chairman, called the meeting to order at 3:10 p.m.
The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at 3:00 p.m. There will be another special meeting to be held on Thursday, June 14, 2001 at 6:00p.m.
Open discussion of the proposed Fire Prevention Ordinance.
Chairman Reble read each section of the proposed Ordinance aloud and took questions and comments after each section. Mark Cotton, citizen, went to the podium several times to give opinions and to ask questions. Jim Woodall and Bill Lee with the Associated General Contractors commented and questioned several sections of the Ordinance. Rusty Harris, with the Building Industry Association of West Florida, went to the podium with ideas and suggestions for several sections of the Ordinance. Ted Dotson, with Pace Water System, and Ken Walker, with Holley-Navarre Water System, discussed at length Section 7 of the Ordinance. There was lengthy discussion of how long the Ordinance is effective. Tim Tolbert asked if everyone thought we needed to have another special meeting to discuss the changes made to the Ordinance as a result of this meeting. It was determined that another meeting is needed. Tambre Weiland suggested a later time for the meeting so that there will be better attendance from the Fire Chiefs. The next special meeting was scheduled for June 14, 2001, at 6:00 p.m.
Chairman Reble adjourned the meeting at 6:00 p.m. without a motion since there was no quorum.
