Bagdad Architectural Advisory Committee
Minutes of the November 4, 2003 Meeting
The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. with the following members and staff present: Charles Cook, Chairman; Dr. Lewis, Committee Member; Jan Davis, Committee Member; Kacey Wagg, Transportation Planner and staff to the Committee; and Beckie Faulkenberry, Planning Director.
The Committee reviewed and approved the minutes of the October 28, 2003 meeting.
The Committee discussed the Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resources Grant-in-aid Assistance Application. Possibilities for grant projects included updating the historic district survey, design and installation of interpretive signage, and acquisition of at-risk buildings. It was decided that a decision regarding application for these grant funds should be made after reviewing the existing historic district survey. Dr. Lewis agreed to obtain a copy of the Bagdad Historic District Master File Update.
The Committee discussed proposed changes to the Land Development Code related to Bagdad Historic Village District tree protection, color palettes, and committee membership. The group agreed to use the Sherwin Williams historic color palettes as suggested exterior paint colors in the district. With regard to committee membership, the group agreed that the size of the committee should be increased, and that membership should include an architect and a non-voting member from the University of West Florida.
- Wall signage 5% per elevation on each road frontage not to exceed 16sf; murals shall be considered wall signage
- Discussed prohibiting temp signs, but agreed to allow Article 8 language suffice
The next Committee meeting was set for November 25, 2003 at 8:30 a.m.
