Woodbine Road / Chumuckla Highway Corridor Study continues to moves forward

Acting on the recommendation of the Woodbine Road / Chumuckla Highway PD&E project consultants Baskerville-Donovan & Tindale Oliver, the Santa Rosa County Commission retained Alternative I/ Berryhill Road Realignment and added a new Alternative J/ Chumuckla Highway Relignment for consideration in the Woodbine Road / Chumuckla Highway Corridor Study. The Commission also removed Alternative F-1/ Gardenview Road and Alternative F-3 / Rolling Acres Road from consideration. The removed alternatives did not offer any advantages over other alternatives and were not well-received at the public meeting. Baskerville-Donovan/Tindale Oliver will now move forward with the Federal/State Compliant PD&E study.

Alternative added for consideration:

Alternative J was added for consideration based on comments received at the public meeting on March 7, 2006 and the Consultant Team’s review. This alternative calls for the rerouting of traffic on Chumuckla Highway to Quintette Road and cul-de-sacing Chumucka Highway just north of the Five Points Intersection.

The Alternatives dropped from consideration:

Alternative F-1 would have required a cul-de-sac on Berryhill Road East of the Five Points intersection and rerouted traffic North through Gardenview Road. This option would have required acquisition of property along Gardenview Road to allow for required widening.

Alternative F-3 would have required cul-de-sac on Berryhill Road East of the Five Points intersection and rerouted traffic to the North through Rolling Acres Road. This option would have required acquisition of property along Rolling Acres Road to allow for required widening.
