Westbound I-10 Bridge Lane Closures to Continue

Chipley – The left lane of the westbound I-10 bridge will be closed from 9p.m. to 6 a.m. intermittently through December as construction crews continue to pour concrete for the new I-10 bridge over Escambia Bay. Work will take place as weather permits. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use caution and obey regulatory signs in the work zone.

Until last month, construction crews had been utilizing the right shoulder of the existing east bound bridge to pour concrete for the new structure. However, by early August, the work had reached the area across from the steel grate Acrow bridge panels. Due to structure and traffic conditions of the Acrow bridge, workers were unable to position concrete trucks on the Acrow panels. As a result, crews placed their concrete trucks in the left lane of the west bound bridge to off-load concrete into a hopper located on a barge below. The concrete then is pumped to the deck of the new east bound bridge.
