General Shelter Information

Lost your pet? Check the shelter first. Photos are posted online or visit us in person. The shelter stays open until 6 p.m. on Wednesday nights for pet owners to look for and redeem their pets during the work week. This extended time is allotted for pet redemptions only, all other services provided will resume the next business day.

Need a pet? Your fur-ever friend is waiting for you at Santa Rosa Animal Services! Adopt, don't shop!

Santa Rosa County Animal Services recently announced the addition of Operation Furever Freedom, a new program designed to provide veterans, active-duty military, reservists and National Guardsmen with up to two pets, all fees waived. Military dependents are eligible for reduced rates. Outside animals must have a fenced yard and renters will need a landlord's permission. An active ID or DD 214 card must be provided. Call 850-983-4680 for details!

We also accept donations! Check out our Amazon wish list where items can be bought from Amazon and shipped directly to the shelter. Frequently needs items include kitten and puppy food as well as kitty litter.

Volunteer or Foster

Love animals and have some time to give back to your community? Ask us about volunteering (see the volunteer page)! Come visit us in person to complete an application or call 850-983-4680 for more information.

We also are in need of foster pet owners to help care for kittens and puppies too young to be in a the shelter, animals recovering from illness or injury, and animals that simply need a break from a shelter environment.

Doggy Day Out program

The Doggy Day Out program pairs members of the community with shelter dogs for daytime field trips. Outings can last from one hour to all day and can include a hike, puppuccino from a local coffee shop, or even lunch at a pet-friendly restaurant. Participants will be provided with everything needed for a successful outing.

This will help reduce the stress many dogs experience in the kennels. It will also provide increased visibility for our dogs as well as give us insight into their personalities and how they behave outside of the shelter environment.
