Registration for Summer Reading begins June 1!

All Summer Reading activities will be online this year. Programs begin June 14 and will be available for kids, teens, and adults. Program details and registration links will be available on Monday, June 1!

Join us June 14 at 6 p.m. for the Summer Reading Kickoff!

Have you ever wondered what animals use their tails for? Mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians all have tails, what is the story behind them? During this program you will learn about different exotic animal tails and how they use them. This exciting program presented by AnimalTales via Zoom will take place on June 14 at 6 p.m.

Who can participate: Santa Rosa County Library cardholders in good standing who are 11 and under can participate in the Kids Summer Reading program. If you live in Santa Rosa County and do not have a library card, ask your parent/guardian to call 981-READ (7323) for information on how to get a library card .

How to participate:

  1. Register for the Kids program here to participate online, or print a paper reading log. You may also pick up a paper reading log in person at your library. Online participation is encouraged, but not required.
  2. We encourage you to read at least 15 minutes a day. Log the number of minutes you read each day in Wandoo Reader or on your paper reading log.
  3. Complete as many of the weekly challenges as you can.
  4. Read, participate, and enjoy!
  5. Submit your challenges via Wandoo Reader, or return your completed reading log to your library by close of business on Saturday, July 31.

Prizes: Participants will receive a stuffed animal tail, animal print slap bracelet, and a paperback book, while supplies last. For patrons participating online, prizes may be picked up at your library during the first 2 weeks of August. If you do not participate online, you will receive your prizes when you turn in your reading log at your library. Thank you to the Friends of the Library groups for sponsoring these prizes.
