Celebrate Arbor Day with free trees and planting instruction at Bagdad Mill Site Park

In honor of Arbor Day, Florida Forest Service will be giving away a variety of tree species in one-gallon containers at the Bagdad Mill Site Park, Jan. 18, 10 a.m. to noon. Some species available will include fringe tree, highbush blueberry and white oak. Quantities are limited and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis (two trees per person/family). The public is encouraged to attend, participate in tree-planting activities, and learn planting and care techniques to assure proper health and optimal plant growth.

Bagdad Mill Site Park, located at 6953 Main St. in Bagdad, is home to over 150 various species of native trees. The event is sponsored by the Florida Forest Service with assistance by the Santa Rosa County UF/IFAS Extension Master Gardeners, Navarre Garden Club, Bagdad Waterfronts Florida Partnership, Santa Rosa Historical Society and Milton Garden Club.
