November Events at Your Santa Rosa County Library

Holiday Closures

Libraries will be closed on Monday, November 11 in observance of Veterans Day.

 

In observance of Thanksgiving, libraries will close early at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27 and will be closed Thursday-Saturday, November 28-30.  Libraries resume normal business hours on Monday, December 2.


Preschool Storytime

Storytime programs are presented for preschool children ages three through five and include stories, finger plays and action rhymes. Caregivers must remain in the library during storytime; however, they cannot accompany children into the programs. Programs start promptly at the assigned times; latecomers are not admitted.


First timer? Visit the library to meet the storytime presenter, pick up a welcome packet, explore the children's area, and enjoy a tour of the library.

 

Storytime will be presented during the following times through Dec. 6:

• 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Mondays at the Jay Library

• 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Navarre and Milton Libraries

• 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Fridays at the Gulf Breeze and Pace Libraries

Family Story Hour 

Learn about the earth’s biomes at Family Story Hour with stories, activities and more related to each biome. This month we will explore grasslands.

Family Story Hour will be presented during the following times this month:

  • 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4 – Navarre Library
  • 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5 – Milton Library
  • 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12 – Jay Library
  • 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13 – Gulf Breeze Library
  • 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19 – Pace Library

Come join our maker's space at the Gulf Breeze Library. Interested in drafting, robotics, Arduino, knitting, painting or any kind of hobby and would like a place to meet with others? The library meeting room will be available at this time to do so. Sign up is required; see staff at front desk.

Nov. 2, 10 a.m.

Visit the library to read with Gabby the therapy dog! Space is limited; registration is required. Speak with a staff member to register.

 

Refreshing Reads Book Club – Jay Library - 5259 Booker Ln.

Nov. 5, 3 p.m.

Enjoy an uplifting book club where one can talk about books in a spirit of fun and sharing. See a staff person to register. This month's selection is “The Alliance” by Jolina Petersheim.

 

International Games Week STEAM – Milton Library – 5541 Alabama St.

Nov. 6, 3 p.m.

Visit the Milton Library for an International Games Week themed STEAM event. Build a game or game character, play paper Tetris, giant Sorry, or board games, and enjoy making crafts. This event is open to all ages.

 

The Illustriates Graphic Novel Book Club – Navarre Library - 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.

Nov. 6, 4 p.m.

Sixth through 12th graders can join fellow graphic novel enthusiasts to discuss the book of the month. Members can suggest reading ideas, interests, and discuss the world of the graphic novel. This month’s selection is “Sheets” by Brenna Thummler. Speak with a staff member to register.

 

Book Chat – Pace Library – 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd.

Nov. 6, 4 p.m.   

One of the next best things to reading a good book is chatting about it. Join the conversation at the Pace Library on the first Wednesday of every month at 4 p.m.  This month’s selection is “Woman 99” by Greer Macallister. Registration is required.

 

FONL Annual Meeting – Navarre Library – 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.

Nov. 7, 1:30 p.m.

The FONL will hold their annual meeting on Nov. 7 at 1:30 p.m. with a potluck lunch for members and new members. Memberships will be available at the door.

Nov. 8, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Nov. 9, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

The Friends of the Navarre Library will hold their Fall Book Sale on Friday, Nov. 8, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 9, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. A variety of books will be available.

Enjoy playing games? Come to the Milton Library for a special retro-themed game day this month. There will be classic games and video games for all ages.


Coffee Talk Book Club - Gulf Breeze Library – 1060 Shoreline Dr.

Nov. 12, 12 p.m.

The non-fiction book club meets on the second Tuesday of every other month for a brown bag lunch and book discussion. This month’s selection is “Code Name: Lise” by Larry Loftis. Registration required.

 

The Inklings– Milton Library - 5541 Alabama St.

Nov. 12, 5 p.m.

Sixth through 10th graders are invited to share their ideas about the book of the month. The Inklings Book Club meets the second Tuesday of the month at 5 p.m. at the Milton Library. This month’s selection is “The Cruel Prince” by Holly Black. Speak with a staff member to register.

Visit the Gulf Breeze Library on the third Tuesday of each month to learn and share graphic art skills in a fun environment. The AniManga Club is dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of animation, cartooning, and related arts. The club is open to youth ages 11-17.

Tweens and teens ages 10-17 who are interested in robotics, coding, and art are invited to a new Tech & Art Club. Explore art using technology and various mediums. Beginners through expert level welcome. Registration required.

The county master gardeners will present a monthly series on a variety of interesting topics with solutions for your gardening life. This month’s topic, “Organic Pesticide Options for the Homeowner,” will be presented by Sam Greendorfer.

Nov. 26, 6 p.m.

Ninth through 12th graders who are 14-18 years old can discuss the read-of-the-month with friends at the Gulf Breeze Library. Bibliobabblers meets at 6 p.m. on the last Tuesday of every month. This month’s selection is “A Million Suns” by Beth Revis.
