Animal Services is clearing the shelter

Santa Rosa County Animal Services is participating in the Clear the Shelters campaign through Sept. 19 by waiving all adoption fees. Adopters will also receive a goody bag with coupons and tips for a successful cat or dog adoption.

"This is another great opportunity to help the pets in our shelter find homes," said Dora Thomason, shelter director. "We are excited to participate in this campaign and our hope is to find every adoptable animal in our shelter a home by Sept. 19 while simultaneously raising funds through Clear the Shelters to purchase needed items for our new surgical suite that will soon be complete."

By the shelter participating in the Clear the Shelters program, residents may also donate to the shelter through www.clearthesheltersfund.org. The Animal Rescue Site is covering 100 percent of credit card transaction fees so that all money donated goes directly to Santa Rosa County Animal Services.

The shelter will use any funds received through this campaign to purchase cat kennels to provide a safe and comfortable environment for cats recovering from being altered.

More about Clear the Shelters:

Greater Good Charities and The Animal Rescue Site are joining NBC and Telemundo stations’ Clear The Shelters pet adoption campaign to support shelters and rescues across the country by encouraging individuals to donate funds to help animal welfare groups with the most critical needs.

Each summer, shelters and rescues face an added stress on their resources from increases in puppy and kitten intakes due to spring litters. In 2021 shelters are reporting higher than normal intake rates, with unprecedented overpopulation in some areas. They need you now.
