Santa Rosa County Animal Services (SRCAS) is reinstating the Doggy Day Out program after temporarily suspending the program in February due to a large influx of dogs with unknown behaviors and personalities.
SRCAS has over 40 dogs available for adoption, 14 of which are eligible for Doggy Day Out. The program helps staff learn more about their behavior which ultimately allows staff to better match the dogs with families. The Doggy Day Out Report Card allows participants to report if the dogs are good at hopping into a car, how they are with strangers and kids, and more about their personality when they're not in a stressful shelter environment.
Doggy Day Out helps shelter dogs by giving them a break from the shelter environment. The outings reduce stress, make the dogs happy and help them meet potential adopters in the community. Doggy Day Out can include a trip to the beach, a hike or even a meal at a pet-friendly restaurant! Learn more about the Doggy Day Out program online at www.santarosa.fl.gov/863/Doggy-Day-Out-Program.
