[ARCHIVED] Tom King Bayou pedestrian bridge opens Wed., Aug. 24

The Tom King Bayou pedestrian bridge in Navarre is set to open at 10 a.m. on Wed., Aug. 24 with a brief ribbon cutting on the east end of the bridge. The pedestrian bridge connects the multi-use path that travels along East Bay Boulevard from Hwy. 98 to Hwy. 87.

"The completion of this project creates a protected pedestrian feature along East Bay Boulevard to allow people to safely cross over Tom King Bayou," said Commissioner Dave Piech, District 4. "This path will be enjoyed by residents for years to come. I want to thank county staff, the board of county commissioners and everyone who diligently worked on this project that enhances the safety of our community."

The total cost for this project was $1,812,559 with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) funding $766,955 of the total cost through a Local Agency Program (LAP) agreement and a large portion paid for by the Local Option Sales Tax.
