Coldwater Creek Chapel at Adventures Unlimited

Santa Rosa County photo selected for state calendar

The Florida Association of Counties (FAC) announced the county photos selected to be featured in their 2019 FAC Calendar: Old Florida. Santa Rosa County Assistant Public Information Officer Sarah Whitfield's photo of Adventures Unlimited Outdoor Center's historic Coldwater Creek Chapel will be featured as December 2019.

The chapel was established in 1901 in north Santa Rosa County. In the following 112 years, it endured two moves and severe damage from Hurricane Ivan. After several years of restoration, the chapel began a new life at Adventures Unlimited where it has been used for weddings, receptions, meetings and a place of worship since 2016.

The 2019 FAC calendar photo submission contest was held over the summer and all of Florida’s 67 counties were asked to submit their best history photos or photos of their favorite historic site in their county with more than 300 photos being submitted. From the submissions, fifteen were selected for the 2019 FAC calendar:

  • Cover: Franklin County
  • December 2018: Leon County
  • January 2019: Levy County
  • February 2019: Palm Beach County
  • March 2019: Putnam County
  • April 2019: Okeechobee County
  • May 2019: Flagler County
  • June 2019: Pinellas Beach County

  • October 2019: Pasco County
  • November 2019: Osceola County

“This year’s calendar theme honors Florida’s rich and diverse history and the generations of Floridians who have contributed to the success of this great state that we call home.” said Florida Association of Counties President and Hendry County Commissioner Karson Turner, “The FAC calendar is great way for counties and citizens to showcase their local history.”
