Santa Rosa County
  • Governor Ron DeSantis announced that beginning Mon., May 18, restaurants, retail shops, libraries and museums may operate at 50% capacity and fitness centers/gyms may reopen with social distancing measures and proper sanitization of equipment between use. The governor is asking counties to submit their plans for reopening of short-term rentals. The board of county commissioners is working with staff to send a plan for approval as soon as possible. See all the executive orders online.
  • Beginning Mon., May 18, citizens may call to make appointments to see staff for needed services including the offices of development services, veterans services, engineering, and animal services.
  • The Santa Rosa County Library System will resume curbside holds pick up on Mon., May 18.
    • Patrons may place holds using their online library accounts.
    • Library staff will notify patrons when their holds are ready.
    • Call 981-READ (7323) or visit the library web site for further information.

Testing
No appointment necessary. No prescreening required. No cost or copay but bring insurance card. Testing may be oral swabs or nasal swabs depending on availability. This is not a test for antibodies. More details here. For questions, contact the Department of Health (850-564-2307) for questions.

On Sat., May 16, Gulf Islands National Seashore will initiate Phase Two access, opening
  • Santa Rosa area, including Highway 399
     - Opal Beach restrooms at clusters C & D will be open
     - Lifeguards will be on duty at Opal Beach

  • The Naval Live Oaks Area (no restrooms)
With public health in mind, the following facilities remain closed at this time:
 - Parking lots 33A and 36A along Highway 399 (closed for the season)
 - Parking lots 34A and 34E at the Opal Beach Complex
