Santa Rosa County debris pickup continues
following April 20 storms
In the aftermath of the severe weather event on Apr. 20, Santa Rosa County contracted with a hauler to assist with removal of debris. Since May 7, the contractor has picked up 20,656 cubic yards of debris, starting on the west side of the county, working eastward along both sides of Highway 90. The contractor is expected to complete the first pass by May 29 and will immediately begin a second pass as soon as the first pass is complete. All collections are expected to be completed on or near June 10.
Residents are reminded that debris must be placed on the right of way and vegetative debris must be separated from construction debris. No furniture, white goods (appliances) or vehicles will be picked up. Pickup will be limited to storm-impacted areas determined by damage assessment teams. For questions, call 850-981-7121.
