Hurricane Sally update #16

• The county is working with state and FEMA recovery teams on assessments. 
• FEMA's public damage assessment teams were in Santa Rosa County today and the residential damage assessment teams will be in tomorrow, Wed., Sept. 23.

• Points of Distribution (PODS) have now been discontinued.
• Santa Rosa County distributed the following at PODs since Saturday:
   - 8740 tarps 
   - 144 clean up kits
   - 10,636 cases of water
   - 8090 cases of MREs (97,080 meals)
• Residents still in need of assistance should call 211.
• Waste haulers (ECUA, Waste Pro) will be picking up both trash and recycling cans on their regular schedules. Recycling is temporarily halted due to storm damages sustained at the recycling processing facility so items in recycling cans will be taken to the landfill until repairs are made.

• The county's debris hauling contractor will be on the roads on Tues., Sept. 22 and Wed., Sept 23 cutting hanging limbs over the roads so trucks can pick up debris.
• Residential debris removal begins Thurs., Sept. 24. from dawn to dusk.
• Once crews make a complete pass, two passes will be made to pick up extra debris - total of three passes. Residents will be notified before the final pass.
• Separate your debris as follows:
  - normal household trash
  - vegetative debris (do not bag leaves/vegetative debris)
  - construction/demolition debris
  - appliances/white goods
  - electronics
  - household hazardous debris (see list)
• Cut logs less than 8 feet long. Vegetative debris cannot be mixed with treated lumber, fencing, construction or demolition debris.
• Do not stack debris under power lines, low-hanging limbs, near mailboxes, fire hydrants, water meters or in ditches
• Crews are not allowed to go on to private property to remove debris.
• Residents may bring vegetative debris to Central Landfill free until further notice. 
• If you choose to burn your debris rather than take it to the landfill at no charge or wait for the hauler to pick it up from your yard, be aware Florida statutes prohibit burning debris within 25' of your home or wildlands, 50' from paved public roads and 150' from other occupied buildings.

• Residents who still need food, clothing, should contact 211. 
• Residents who need assistance with tree removal, roof tarping, muck-outs or other manpower needs should call the Citizen Information Line, 850-983-INFO.
• Persons and organizations (churches, etc.) who would like to volunteer should call 850-983-INFO and a volunteer coordinator will match them to the best fit. 

• Residents are asked to continue to report damage at https://bit.ly/2Rnogx8 or call 850-983-4636. This helps the county with the assessment to FEMA.
• Take photos before you start cleaning up including taking photos of the water line from flood waters on the outside of your home before you pressure wash.
• Take note of lost or damaged items and gather any original receipts for these items.
• After gathering documentation, call your insurance company to submit a claim.

• FDOT extended the toll suspension for the Garcon Point Bridge until Wed. at 6 a.m. Any further extensions will be announced as soon as it is received from FDOT.

• State courts in Santa Rosa County are closed Wed., Sept. 23.
• Domestic violence injunction hearings scheduled for Wed., Sept. 16 as well as Wed. Sept. 23 will be conducted Wed. Sept. 23 at  8:15 a.m. in the County Auditorium, 4530 Spike's Way in Milton. 
• Judge Giraud will conduct first appearances at the jail at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23.  
• Judge Giraud’s Sept. 22 misdemeanor arraignments have been reset to 8 a.m. on Oct. 6. 
• The Law Library meeting scheduled for September 23rd is cancelled and will be rescheduled.
